Timetable
Weekly Timetable
The weekly timetable brings together every part of college life: from devotion and prayer to classes, practical training, and ministry involvement. This timetable (though subject to change) offers a snapshot of what the program looks like throughout the week. If you’d like more detail about any section, feel free to contact us. The blend of community living, learning, and ministry is what makes Eastwest College unique.
* Community Life
Eastwest is a residential college that fosters a holistic intercultural and integrated learning environment for students and staff. Here are some of the many of aspects of living and studying in community.
Rhythms of College
Ministry Teams: At the beginning of the semester, you will be assigned to a Ministry Team, which will provide intercultural services in a ministry context, often in partnership with an external ministry. As part of your Ministry Team, you will be required to participate in weekly Ministry Team activities, including team meetings, ministry-specific training, and other ministry-related tasks. These weekly team activities often happen in the evenings.
Morning devotions: Morning devotions are held in the chapel four mornings a week. These times are led by staff and students. All students are required to attend these sessions.
Chapels: Missions chapels are held weekly and feature missionary speakers.
Prayer Day: A prayer day is scheduled once a term where there will be no classes so that everyone may be involved in this corporate prayer day. Each prayer day will have a unique focus missional focus. (Day finishes at 3pm)
Sharing times: Occasionally, a chapel session is set aside for a time of testimony. Staff and students are encouraged to share what God has been doing or saying to them in recent weeks. It is also a time for sharing struggles and difficulties and receiving prayer and encouragement from the college community.
Care groups: Staff and students meet regularly in small groups for fellowship and accountability. Each group may be made up of one or two staff members and students. This is an opportunity to pray for one another and give support and encouragement.
Lunchtime Prayer: Each day during lunch time is taken for corporate prayer. Areas of focus usually include mission speakers, graduates, community needs, local and national needs, world events, and local ministry teams.
Worship and Prayer Nights: Throughout each semester worship and prayer nights may be organised by staff and students.
Church: Students are encouraged to be involved regularly in a local church. As many students will be new to Eastwest and the wider region, students will be supported to visit and help find a local church as needed. Students who wish to take part in ministry opportunities within local churches should be careful not to over-commit themselves. Sunday is an opportunity for a break from the normal routines of college and the ministry students undertake throughout the week.
Duties and Prac: As part of living on campus, students will be rostered on to various duties and ‘prac’ activities to help with the care and day-to-day functioning of College. These rosters are updated regularly and made available to students each semester. Students will also be given orientation and health and safety training for each duty and ‘prac’ activity.
