Applied Learning
For the duration of their study at Eastwest College, each student is part of a ministry team with a weekly opportunity to be engaged in real-life learning and ministry in the surrounding area. This is not an optional extra for students - this is a core component of the training for ALL students.
Certificate in Foundations for Intercultural Studies (ESOL)
Eastwest College offers a level 4 certificate in English Language (120 credits). This is offered for students who would like to enrol for the certificate or diploma course but who don't have the necessary IELTS score. Students use this as an opportunity to bring themselves to the required standard within the college environment before entering the main intercultural studies programme. The course comprises general and academic English, English for ministry and IELTS preparation. For more information see the ESOL page.
Other study options
Intensive Classes
One significant component of training at Eastwest College is the intensive classes offered by visiting lecturers. These are open for those not studying at Eastwest to attend and have been appreciated by local church members and leaders, as well as mission workers on home leave. For a detailed list see Block Courses. These courses are incorporated within the certificate and diploma courses also.
Part-time Options
A number of students have chosen to pursue their training over a longer period of time or have just taken the subjects their schedule permitted. If you wish to know more about this option, contact us and start exploring the options.
Don't forget to check out the Flight Plan
While pursuing academic excellence, it is our conviction that academic acheivement should never be confused with equipping for ministry.
To best serve the students who come to us, the churches who send and support them and the mission agencies who will facilitate them in the future, our focus is getting someone from the point of knowing God's calling to being established in meaningful cross-cultural ministry.
The Flight Plan is a tool which offers intentional accountability - asking from the very start - 'why are you here?' ...and... 'where is God leading you?'
For more details see Flight Plan.
